Agnostic is a label, but it provides a starting point.
I am not religious. I grew up Christian; Catholic in fact. Tried other brands of Christainity, but have concluded that I'm not one of them.
I have also studied Eastern thought, and could consider myself a Taoist.
I am not a Theist, but that doesn't mean I'm an Atheist. I just have no knowledge of a God that is some sort of "super person".
I consider myself spiritual. I am a "Self" which is one with, and part of, all that is.
Jesus said god is spirit, or "a spirit". Spirit is the energy or force that drives all of life. As I understand quantum physics, everything in the universe is energy at the most basic level.
In light of modern scientific knowledge, the god of religion seems small to me. A god who decides that I will have cancer, but it won't kill me for a few years, sounds like a petty, very human being.
The spirit that I experience was the force that allowed me to decide that the cancer would not define me; that I could and would live each day that I have.
I don't mean this to be hostile toward religion. This is a choice for each person. My choice suits me better.
